A Spanish premium jeweller favoured by the likes of popstar Shakira and Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas will debut in London in April.

Madrid-headquartered Uno de 50 has signed a 10-year lease with the Crown Estate for 143 Regent Street. It is also considering opening in Rome, Tokyo and Toronto.

Founded in the late Nineties, Uno de 50 started out by creating just 50 units of each design to maintain exclusivity. It now has 100 shops around the world.

Jose Azulay, owner and president of Uno de 50, said he chose Regent Street because of its “global reputation for quality, heritage, style and success”.

There are more than 100 international retail brands looking to secure their first shop in the capital this year, Uno de 50’s property adviser Kitchen La Frenais Morgan said. “A big chunk of these are upper-mid market to luxury”, it added.

Top Regent Street rents stand at around £550 per square foot.
